Miep and photographer Milette Raats met six years ago. At that time, Miep was following a transgender program at the VUmc in Amsterdam. Raats photographed Miep as her muse, with the city serving as a backdrop. Raats' portraits are the result of unexpected encounters. Through personal involvement with her subjects, the work has an intimate character, evoking associations with film stills. Room for free interpretation of her work is important to Raats. With this photo series, she hopes to stimulate the exchange of ideas between people.
