It’s a self-portrait made during the first Covid lockdown in Amsterdam and depicts the loneliness of being ill away from your family while locking into different culture codes, history and aesthetics to fight a fear of existence outside of the familiar. Amsterdam’s Golden Age serves as an inspiration to find the grounding point amidst the troubling reality.
