A few years ago, I had the pleasure of meeting Maria and Merel at a surf camp by the sea. When I wasn’t even sure whether I would really feel at home there for a while, their smiles and wonderful friendliness took the decision out of my hands. I mean, they were from Amsterdam or the surrounding area and unfortunately I never saw them again.
